Nintendo Switch - MudsyKipsy - 01-13-2017

Heya guys!

At an event in Japan they finally revealed some more info about their new console that's about to release in a few months: The Nintendo Switch, a console and handheld hybrid!

It's a lot of information so let's get started

Release date: March 3rd 2017 in Japan, US, Canada,Major European countries, Hong Kong and other territories.
Suggested Price: Japan: 29,980 Yen and US: $299.99

online services

Just as their old Consoles, you can still play local and online multiplayer on it, but it's different this time. There will be a smartphone application that you can connect with your Nintendo Switch. You can invite friends to play online, set player appointments and chat with friends. Users of it can try the services out for free during a trial period after launch. Then it will become a paid service beginning in the fall of 2017. Details and price will be added on their homepage about this service on a later date.

region locking

As you guys might know that Nintendo always had their Consoles and Handhelds region locked. Which means you can only buy games of the same region where the console is from. With the Nintendo Switch, there won't be a region lock anymore. Which means you can buy games from any region you like.

Information about the console itself

The console itself comes with a Switch dock, where you put the console in. The dock itself is linked to the TV trough a cable. If you wish to take the game with you, you just take the console out of it's dock and connect the left- right Joy con  from the main controller, and put it on the switch so you can keep playing.

Playstyle

tv mode: With this mode, you play games on your tv in typical gaming style.
tabletop mode: Play on the console with it's stand on the table.
handheld mode: Attach the right and left joy con on the system, so you can take it with you and play games. it's battery life will depend on the game and will range from 2,5 hours to 6,5 hour. And you can play while charging it with portable batteries. and you can connect with wi-fi for multiplayer battles.
local mutiplayer: Up to 8 nintendo switch systems can be connected for local wireless mutiplayer gaming.

Joy con

The Joy con is a new type of controller for the Nintendo switch, it comes with a joy con grip and left and right joy cons attached to it, this is the main controller for when playing on TV. The joy con can be removed from the grip so you can attach it to the console itself,  and take it with you. Each joy con has an Analogue stick. it has a home button and there's an NFC reader on the button of the analogue stick, so you can use Amiibo. On the left joy con, it has a button that takes screenshots of your gameplay in the future it will be able to do videos as well. You're able to share the screenshots with your friends trough social media. Each joy con has sensors so you're able to play motion control games with it as well. On the side there are buttons that work with the console. thanks to those buttons, each joy con is able to work as a controller on its own. they are also available in the colors: neon blue and Neon red

RE: Nintendo Switch - bronkie - 01-13-2017

Nintendo is great, but honestly all you need from them is like a 2DS and you're fine. They are losing to Microsoft in my opinion.

RE: Nintendo Switch - FyreCT - 01-13-2017

They just keep chucking out the same games over and over. It's stupid. Like "Oh, you want to buy this game, that has been released 15 billion different times in different forms (e.g Mario) well now you have to buy our new console too! Isn't that great how we get lots of income from just shoving the same games out over and over, and then you guys having to buy the latest console just to be able to get it =D". Don't get me wrong though, certain games I do agree should keep going as a series (Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat (preferred the originals). But we really don't need any more Mario... there are over 250 games.. all based around Mario.. we don't need this, the story has been lost and now it's Mario and Sonic at the Olympics (like what even is that... it makes no sense at all). Final Fantasy is another I agree probably should have new releases because there is a story (although not always good.. but it's still there), but Nintendo and other game companies are just milking the faces of their companies and relying on that to get profit. It's stupid. You also get the FIFA games, yes I know players change around but some people seriously buy one those games for about 60 dollars every year which is ridiculous. The other thing I hate is how you have to get attachments to your original console to play other games. Not a console, but the new iPhone seriously annoys me for this. They removed one of the most prominent features of their phone that pretty much everyone who has an iPhone uses, the headphone jack (yeah it was so they could do something to the home button, but still). So what do they do? Make you buy an attachment or their wireless earbuds (only $159) just so you can listen to music... I get why, so they can earn money but again it's just exploiting people. Sorry for my tangent and rant I'm just done and didn't know I felt so strongly about this until I started typing.

(Side Note)
It's a pretty cool idea and I like it.. I just don't like Nintendo as a company haha.
