expert slimefun experimenting with sifted ore. - oah - 10-20-2018

Didn't see a better place to post this so, here goes.

I've been trying to figure out a better design for slimefun sifted ore.

I've done tests in my lab and 2 oregrinderII's can keep up with a goldpan, supplying it with gravel.
Perfectly. Just a lil more than needed.

The brown goldpans supply the blueglass ore washers with the sifted ore and
a brown goldpan can 'ALMOST' supply an ore washer with enough sifted ore, when its full of 2 rows of sifted ore, but,
it can't QUITE keep up.
I guess it's because flint n clay are 16% with the rest sifted ore.

My thought is that if you can get a goldpan to keep up with a blueglass washer,
IF you can, then you can put 2 rows of sifted in the goldpan and you won't have to toss flint and clay.

I realize experts are used to just tossing flint and clay(or storing them) but, if that 30% of sifted ore didn't get wasted, it would be heck, 30% more sifted ore.

I've tried different ways.
A normal 2 brown goldpans won't feed into a washer down the line of a cargo thing, unless maybe you make them 'not be one farther than the other'.
I've tried putting the stuff into a hopper with cargo and letting it feed but..

Was just wondering if anyone else tried doing this before.

I thought about this, but did not actually try it out yet.
My idea is having full output slots on the panner

gold panner->chest->washer
remove your input from the washer
let it run until it stopped working.

now the sifted ore is filling up on the washer input
wait until the panner output is filled with sifted ore (remove flint or clay until you get sifted ore)
now get the washer to work again (dust sorter or the like)

so if the gold panner is exactly as fast as the washer, the 4 stacks of sifted ore shouldn't reduce, right?
and the gold panner can't put clay or flint into its output slots...?
now the real question is: does it still produce flint and clay?

If yes: they vanish. If no: mission accomplished

not tested yet, but I hope you get my idea?
