@blue your first two reasons are the exact same thing and your third is absolutely not your call lol I have been thinking to make the OP in my rank dark aqua or dark blue though :3
Why do you need to differentiate between what "member rank" people are? They're all the same, stop being an elitist =P
@clo builder3 rank was normal red, architect is dark red. I'm sure we can add normal red as a member rank *nudges aeon* xD

the member ranks' colors have a duel purpose: First is to give the members some individuality and choice as a perk to counterbalance the masses of perks all the other ranks have. Second is to avoid repeated the "wave of light blue" that happened with the higher ranks of the last rank system due to fishy never changing the rank colors xD We made the rank system so most would stay member even if they applied for honored or architect, and no color is worth seeing 5,000 times spammed in the chat box x.x
@vicarious abe first, listen to ind... he's smart (and the lead backer of these ranks). Second, the rank system when this server started was even simpler than it is now. The server wasn't made so people can play around making new ranks and build only to achieve those ranks rather than having fun building for itself. The old rank system (which sadly I helped to make) has ruined the mindset of our members into thinking the ranks are the only purpose to the game =/ which is just sad.
Also, we made them to be easy because the old rank system was a burden on our OP team that was completely unnecessary. Many felt the ranks were pointless because players weren't being promoted for the same reason. For instance, players promoted to builder5 by me had a much higher chance of being considered as trusted7 material than by anyone else... which again is sad, because people just asked over and over for a promotion to different OPs until they got one apathetic enough to just give it to them. How is that an achievement? How is that fulfilling? The ranks were pointless. I know most members didn't feel that way, but I and a few other actually good OPs were getting close to retiring if it meant we didn't have to deal with ranking anymore.
As for your second complaint, the custom superOP ranks create confusion in that area too. But I'm sure as you have witnessed personally, there were low ranked people that knew more about the server than a few of our OPs. Clo has been with us so long that she probably could've contended with the admins for the position if she actually wanted to... but she just wants builder3.

Shpp: I already made a member7 (normal red) but I kept it secret. I gave it to Clo just the other day. =) There are 7 total rank colours... member, member2, member3, etc... member7... No "member1" to account for. =)
Here is some very helpful input by another player on this server which I would like to post anonymously, because it had some very valid and nice points to surmise the new ranking system.

Maybe have a Super Architect for builds like yours Aeon, and Vray's, Shpp's etc. You can't apply for Super Architect, it is only by invitation or reserved for OPs eg.
Of course there is plenty more to CFEW than just the ranks so we will carry on enjoying to play regardless of the system in place

It does simplify and now it is explained to me, i understand why older, higher ranking members may not like it but the new people who come to the server won't know the difference

I am not opposed to having a midway rank for architect so normal players can reach it and if we make the requirements high enough, it won't become flooded like honored4 did before the last rank change. However, the reason I back this new rank system is because it brings focus back on simply doing what you feel like rather than building simply for a rank. This thread has evolved from just the rank colors it seems =P

superOP: &5 purple
custom OP: random
OP: &9? blue?
VIF: &1 dark blue
OPit: &b aqua
guest: &f white
so what we have left to fiddle with is: black, dark green, dark aqua/teal, dark red, gold, grey, dark grey, light green, red, pink, yellow
black you can't see in chat well... terrible for rank colors. Use this link as a color guide xD I still feel we should give honored the first choice and split up the rest between architect and the member ranks. Architect doesn't need a popular one since it'll be rare anyway, just not the worst one so architect isn't repulsive. We can save one color for simi-architect if we ever decide to add it if you'd like x.x
