@Indrae (maybe Fug) - Do you guys have the 'Admin CP' up near 'User CP' and 'Mod CP'? If not perhaps we need to adjust the permissions of our Admins and a few mods, so they can edit this user list. I think you can only remove these spam account from inside the 'Admin CP'. I'll ask BlackChaos to give us his advice on this. He should reply here. Thanks guys!

Forum Moderators do not have the required permissions to edit or delete members. Only Forum Admins (Me, Clownfish and Jeffadore) have this permission.
With regards to current spammers/bots in the members list, I can delete all accounts that have not made a single post or have not activated their accounts. To prevent more bots from spamming a multitude of areas, we could probably put into effect one or more of the following methods:

- Members who join should make a post in a specific section before they are considered full members. Until they do, they cannot post anywhere else. This should be difficult to automate for bots because we can easily figure out who the bots are just by seeing their posts. This special section can be hidden from view of Guests so that they don't know it exists until they register. We can treat this section as a "Welcome Mat" kind of section.
Method Rating: Extreme

- More Captchas and Security Questions
Method Rating: Simple

Moreover, I can add a plugin that will let moderators easily delete spammers, their posts and everything with the click of a button.

More captchas lol :3

I'd say go for the simple method for now. If it doesn't help at all than we should consider using the extreme method. and yes. the ability for mods to clean the member list would be helpful. Theres only 3 forum admins, one of which is MIA.

Ya id say simple method, what we could also do is simply decide to make it so if you don't within a certain amount of time anywhere at all, your account gets deleted, but that would be easy to exploit with bots so idk.

No matter what you do do not click on the links, That is what they want and they are earning money from it

RE: spam bot prevention - Justin Case Kazoo - 02-24-2013

Did you click on any of them? I haven't, just because I don't want to risk it...

Heheh. If you click one one of those links, you will probably get like 20 trojans in ten minutes.

RE: spam bot prevention - Toufen - 02-28-2013

i clicked on of those links.....
well, we can go around and see how much each member has posted and if someone has a really small number of posts or allot of posts but you have never heard his name, then you can check one or two of his posts and see if he spams.
i believe only forum admins can see what someone has posted.
