The actual SOPA bill - nopi0 - 01-18-2012 SOPA bill RE: The actual SOPA bill - fireb4llz - 01-21-2012 RE: The actual SOPA bill - 9bjames - 01-21-2012 And yet megaupload was still taken down within 24 hours... almost seems like retaliation... =/ To be honest, I find that quite sickening... Okay, the main way it affects me is that I won't be able to watch videos online... which is technically a good thing because of copyright infringement... but they seized the founder's money, assets, and have taken him into court to try and put him behind bars, all because he set up an unbelievably useful service for sharing files, which some users abused... Really you can't help that people put up illegal content, it's impossible to police every single user on the off-chance someone is abusing a service... and yet this guy is being prosecuted for other people's actions, as well as having one of the internet's great assets taken away for those who use it for legitemate reasons... RE: The actual SOPA bill - FUGGNUTZ - 01-21-2012 Megaupload wasn't taken down because of SOPA or infringement of it (it hasn't even passed yet), it was taken down because it wildly violated many laws that are already in existence, including paying people to upload copyrighted material. SOPA had nothing to do with it. RE: The actual SOPA bill - BlackChaos - 01-21-2012 RE: The actual SOPA bill - fireb4llz - 01-21-2012 |
