Personally, I like TeamSpeak better than Discord due to the fact that it is easier to use and doesn't seem as complicated. Plus I never liked push to talk. For me its annoying to use and something to be used if a person has an echo due to not setting up the voice capture correctly or not having a headset.

I prefer Discord over Team Speak. I never use TS and never plan to because I don't like the program. Discord doesn't force push to talk but for people that may have background noise or like what Ethan suggested, then they need to do it. There is also an option to mute your mic if needed so I would prefer discord.

I prefer TS, it's easier to use and it has less cons. Also if we really need to use Discord, then i don't want Push to talk to be a restriction. It's really annoying and it will disturb the gameplay in my opinion.

You guys know you can use voice activity right?

I understand what Ethan is saying, and we could force users into push to talk 'just in case'. However how often does that 'just in case' occur? And are there other ways to handle it? So far we have had no problem in simply requesting a player with background noise to change to push to talk (not sure voice activity always solves the problem). We often have at least one OP on the voice server who can kick or mute the player if they don't cooperate, and if not, players can let us know via many other means - letting somebody knowing ingame, contacting us on the forum, contacting us over skype.
So far we have had no complaints over it, and our voice server players are happy with how we have it set up. While it seems a small thing to ask of players - to allocate a push to talk button, and while some players might not be inconvenienced by it, we have heard here that many other people will be. Many players don't have a background noise to worry about and its a much more enjoyable and relaxed experience not having to worry about pushing a button every time they want to talk. I don't believe we need to force this onto players on the off chance of a player joining with background noise, or on an even smaller off chance that we hear someone swear in the background. We have other ways to deal with it. As regards which server to use? At this point I would prefer Teamspeak. We can set up a password to join, and we can change that password if need be. I don't think we can do that with Discord.

The LT has been unable to come to a compromise on this proposal. The Teamspeak server will remain CFEW's official voice chat server. The Discord test server will be shut down soon.
