We are trying to move away from the recommendation process. Atm players can't get access to more perks until they get recommended by staff. There are many problems with this. Firstly some of our timezones have less OPs than others, putting some players at a disadvantage. We then have different standards being applied by staff members with some lenient in their recommendations, and others holding players to a higher standard. For players that apply for honored and don't get any recommendations it can be a very deflating experience, and frustrating as they can't access the extra perks without it. After weeks of waiting these players become disgruntled players on the server and some start to resent us. Their behaviour goes downhill and they then create a situation where they aren't going to now get recommended anyway. Also some players find they can't get recommendations because of past behaviours too, and even though their behaviour improves dramatically, their bad behaviour is not forgotten by staff.
Ranking on timeplay is a fair system. Sure we might get some trying to cheat the system, but we're a small community, and we'll soon spot these people. At least we're not stopping people from accessing further perks based on personality.
We have left the final rank as a recommendation because players that get to this rank have probably been playing for a long time on the server and we at least eliminate the problem of staff not knowing them.
Don't forget too with this system we can set more rewards eg. cash injections based on time played, which we can't do with our current system.
