my only advice would be to make the outter wall thick, perhaps even 5 blocks. This will give you the ability to make a really cool pattern with different depths for the "windows" on the outside. I have seen many of these types of builds and i am always dissapointed with how flat the outside is. Meanwhile, most of the ones you see in real life have outsides like so:

Edit: just remembered this from a history class. May be common knowledge to most, but I still think its cool. The colosseum actually had cloth overhangs to keep the stands out of the sun. I dont think ive ever seen one built in minecraft that uses those. It may be hard to put those in, but it would still look pretty cool if you could do it the right way
