Hey everyone,
The nether is currently broken, not sure how it happened. It's a brand new nether, so some advantages exist... (I.E. nether brick, more soulsand)
But all of your nether houses are gone. Do you all want to keep changes and re-build? Or would you all rather restore to old map? It's also possible I could get with clownfish and move builds into new nether (might take a while).
Of course, all builds are valuable, so we can restore to an old nether if you all wish.

Hmm, a new nether would help, but there's still a lot of builds in the old one. I for one have a long time unfinished build there, but it isn't really abandonned.
I think... the only complication with moving buildings from the nether is finding a new location (I know there are quite a few builds there). I chose my spot because of location... so moving it might be difficult.
Not apposed to scrapping the old nether, but I think theres going to need to be a lot of work done to make sure people don't lose anything.

IF we do decide to scrap the old nether, I could probably do all the moving of peoples builds. I would like to save the old nether but there are advantages to having a new one.

I'll try to work on this. The old nether become very troublesome 'file wise'. It suddenly grew to 8x plus the file size in 1 or 2 days. I was smaller than the main world, then sudden way larger than the main world in size & especially number of files. I tried to ask for help with this, but I never got and good answers.
I think we should at least salvage the houses from the old nether. It should still be accessible. I need to look at it with a good working copy of 'MC Edit'. I could be that a hacker or player got past the nether boundaries and kept walking. It could also just be file corruption. I'm not sure. I'll try to salvage and edit this. This will be a nice project for the new admin team to help with using WE. We could have the old nether loaded as a 'visit / read only world'. There WE admin (maybe WE helpers) could copy and paste builds for visitors for a period of time. The we take the old nether off line. It's also possible that we salvage the old nether with some kind of a 'crop' function.
Anyhow... give me your ideas

I disagree with the nether being "hacked" by someone who was able to pass the boundary on purpose. If this were true, why didn't they break other maps, like planetoids or the traditional map which are much easier to get past the boundary?
The logical conclusion is that someone in the overworld made a nether portal outside of the nether boundaries. Since nether gates travel 8x farther in block travel versus the overworld. My conclusion with the evidence is that someone placed a nether gate directly at the border of the overworld, or near it. This could have occurred from a mistake by someone living near the border making a nether gate, or by potentially intentional actions of passing the nether boundary using this "glitch" method.
I will attempt to replicate this in game with you, if you have the time.
Two solutions:
1: Make the Nether borders 8x the size of the overworld 3100 block size. 24,800 map size.
2: Remove the nether, give everyone nether kits all over again.
