News about Nicknames

I am not happy to announce this, but the nickname feature of our server has been discontinued. I know that many people enjoyed it, but it complicated the work of admins and OPs. It also made it impossible to search through the server logs for some people. If we can find a way to bring this back reasonably, then we may.

What about coloured usernames, can they stay? They do make it easier to read the chat. I think its a shame that the nickname feature has gone.

Colored nicknames were actually one of the primary reasons we were having problems.

In the server log, it was nearly impossible to search for someone. This is a major inconvenience for trying to enforce the rules (can't lookup what people said, etc.).

elaboration of ind's words: in the chat log, it lists people's nicknames instead of their actual names and also includes the &#s and &letters included to make the colors. There are no colors in chat log, it's just impossible to search for what you don't know what to look for. Same applies when fishy is reading chat on his phone or console. It's necessary to remove nicks to ensure protection of the rules.

Well, actually the console does show color. Not sure about the phone.

oh? cool. Well I know his phone doesn't xD even without the & stuff, people change their nicks too often to track everything.
