@aeon that isn't what is called a compromise, that is a rephrasal of a previously proposed rank system. I think if this member multicolor thing doesn't gain support we should just go with what was previously agreed upon, not try to merge something that isn't liked into the old plan xD so far apparently only me and fire like it, so I guess I should just give up on it
@james *shrugs* I was just trying to give people that aren't good enough or motivated enough to become the other ranks some color choice to make our server less hostile. There are a lot of players that consistently build what we now consider builder2 quality stuff and unless they somehow earn our trust/help others (which there is talk of making that harder to achieve), then they have no option other than member... can't even decide for themselves. Perhaps also give a few options to those not interested in "earning" the higher ranks too =) we wish to exemplify "everyone's welcome" after all =P (if others can use that phrase loosely to push their ideas, I can too haha)
There will be periods of time where the alt worlds with different rank colors will get attention, but like it or not they won't keep attention if the players don't find their uniqueness interesting. Keep hope of the alt worlds alive, but really I don't see that as a reason not to give the majority of our members a little perk when every other rank has theirs.
It served the added bonus of colorful chat, and I don't think giving members a choice of rank color is that overly complex >.> "ok good you're not a bot sent to harass us :D what's your favorite color?" and if they choose one taken by higher ranks, "second favorite? this has a purpose I promise!" And if they don't answer we can just make it at the discretion of the OP promoting... or we can simply have a sign in spawn saying "when you're promoted to member, you may request having your rank be one of the following colors:" then list them and just don't allow mind changes after the first day. Either way, I meant it to be something fun, I don't think it adds complexity.
Again, if it doesn't gain popularity I'm fine with the idea dying... maybe it can come back later if the ranks really do turn out as I fear and others want change.

Those who fight for justice must walk a narrow path, for those who complain about the injustice of the world usually end up being the ones committing those injustices later on.
